Where to Stay in Guam: 4 Popular Hotels Compared

Where to Stay in Guam: 4 Popular Hotels Compared

After several trips to Guam, I’ve learned that choosing the right hotel can completely change the feel of your holiday. The island may be compact, but its main resorts differ quite a bit in location, room style, pools, and overall atmosphere.

I keep coming back for the turquoise water, soft sand, and easy tropical pace—and I seem to notice something new each time. This guide brings together what I’ve learned from staying at four of Guam’s most popular upscale hotels: Dusit Thani Guam Resort, Dusit Beach Resort Guam, Hyatt Regency Guam, and The Tsubaki Tower.

The quick answer: which Guam hotel should you choose?

All four are excellent options, but they suit different kinds of trips. Here is the simplest way to narrow down your choice.

Hotel Best for Location Starting room size*
Dusit Thani Guam Resort Polished luxury and couples Central Tumon Beach Approx. 43 m²
Dusit Beach Resort Guam Families and convenience Central Tumon Beach Approx. 36 m²
Hyatt Regency Guam Spacious grounds and relaxing pool days Tumon Beach Approx. 44 m²
The Tsubaki Tower Modern rooms and ocean views Gun Beach Approx. 45 m²

*Entry-level room sizes vary by room category and booking date. Check the room details before booking.

My short version: choose Dusit Thani for a refined luxury feel, Dusit Beach for an easy family holiday, Hyatt for a classic full-resort experience, and Tsubaki for modern design and guaranteed ocean views.

Location: Tumon Beach or Gun Beach?

Central Tumon beachfront
Dusit Thani, Dusit Beach, and Hyatt sit close to many of Guam’s shops, restaurants, and cafés.
Quieter Gun Beach setting
The Tsubaki Tower feels calmer and more removed from central Tumon, with elevated ocean views.

Dusit Thani and Dusit Beach are directly beside each other, while Hyatt Regency sits a little farther south along the same bay. The Tsubaki Tower is farther north near Gun Beach, next to Hotel Nikko Guam. Choose central Tumon if you want maximum convenience; choose Gun Beach if views and a quieter atmosphere matter more.

How the pools compare

The pool setup matters more than you might expect, especially when traveling with children.

  • Dusit Thani and Dusit Beach: guests can use the pool areas at both neighboring properties, giving families more variety.
  • Hyatt Regency: three free-form pools and two waterslides create the most traditional full-resort experience.
  • The Tsubaki Tower: an elevated infinity pool is the highlight, and guests can also use Hotel Nikko Guam’s pool area and Gun Beach.

Pool-access policies can change, so confirm the current arrangements with the hotel before your stay.

1. Dusit Thani Guam Resort: best for polished luxury

Dusit Thani Guam Resort on Tumon Bay

Dusit Thani is the first hotel I would consider if an upscale atmosphere and a central location are high on your list. It sits directly on Tumon Beach, with restaurants and shopping close by, so it is easy to explore without planning your whole day around transport.

The entry-level rooms are generally larger than those at Dusit Beach, and selected categories have beautiful views over Tumon Bay. Access to the neighboring Dusit Beach pool area also adds variety when you plan to spend plenty of time at the hotel.

Best for: couples, special occasions, trips with parents, and anyone who values a refined hotel atmosphere.

2. Dusit Beach Resort Guam: best for an easy family trip

Dusit Beach is attached to Dusit Thani, but the atmosphere is more casual and family-oriented. Its central Tumon location makes meals, shopping, and quick outings easy, which is especially useful when you are traveling with young children.

Rooms are available with either a king bed or two queen beds, giving families practical options. Its biggest advantage is access to the pool facilities across the neighboring Dusit properties: you get a relaxed family resort as your base, with more facilities just steps away.

Best for: families, first-time Guam visitors, and travelers who want the easiest possible location.

3. Hyatt Regency Guam: best for a classic resort holiday

Courtyard and exterior of Hyatt Regency Guam

Hyatt Regency feels like the most traditional large Guam resort of the four. It has generous tropical grounds, direct access to Tumon Beach, and enough pool space to make a slow resort day feel like part of the itinerary—not simply time between activities.

The entry-level rooms are relatively spacious, and the three free-form pools and two waterslides make it a strong contender for families. I would choose Hyatt when the resort itself is meant to be one of the highlights of the trip.

Best for: pool-loving families, relaxed beach holidays, and travelers who prefer spacious resort grounds.

4. The Tsubaki Tower: best for modern rooms and ocean views

Infinity pool at The Tsubaki Tower overlooking the ocean

The Tsubaki Tower has a noticeably different feel from the three Tumon Beach resorts. Set near Gun Beach, it feels quieter, more contemporary, and more design-focused. Every guest room faces the ocean, so you do not have to gamble on the view when booking.

The rooms feel generous, and the infinity pool makes the most of the elevated oceanfront setting. Guests can also use Hotel Nikko Guam’s pool area and Gun Beach, reached by a complimentary shuttle or a short walk. That gives families more options without losing Tsubaki’s calmer atmosphere.

Best for: ocean-view seekers, couples, design-conscious travelers, and families who prefer a quieter base.

My final verdict

All four of these upscale Guam hotels are highly regarded, but each one suits a different travel style. Here’s my final recommendation:

  • Choose Dusit Thani for polished luxury in the most convenient location.
  • Choose Dusit Beach for a relaxed family trip with easy access to central Tumon.
  • Choose Hyatt Regency for spacious grounds and long, leisurely pool days.
  • Choose The Tsubaki Tower for modern rooms, a quieter atmosphere, and ocean views.

I have genuinely enjoyed all four and often choose a different one depending on who I am traveling with. Before booking, compare the exact room category, cancellation terms, and current pool-access rules—not just the starting price.
