Two hotels, one stretch of Tumon Beach, and almost the same name. If you keep switching between Dusit Thani Guam Resort and Dusit Beach Resort Guam while planning your trip, I get it. I’ve enjoyed staying at both. The question is less “which one is better?” and more “which one feels right for this trip?”
Here’s my honest comparison of their rooms, shared pools, family-friendly details, breakfast, and places to eat nearby—especially the little things I would check before booking with a child.

Quick answer: Choose Dusit Thani if you want a more polished, contemporary hotel feel and a room with a memorable oceanfront view. Choose Dusit Beach if a relaxed resort atmosphere, two-queen-bed options, and practical family conveniences matter more. Both put you in central Tumon and let guests use the pools at both properties, according to Dusit’s current guidance..
Location: you really can’t go wrong with either
Both hotels sit side by side on central Tumon Beach. You can walk out to the sand, grab a meal, browse the nearby shops, and head back without turning every outing into a car trip. With a child in tow, being able to leave the hotel in sandals and find dinner nearby is a bigger luxury than it sounds.
Location alone would not decide this one for me. I would compare the room category, the overall mood of the hotel, and the price on my travel dates instead.

One useful surprise: you can use both pool areas
Dusit currently says guests of either resort can use the swimming pools at both hotels. So you do not need to choose a hotel on its pool alone. Dusit Beach has the family-friendly Splash Pool, and staying at Dusit Thani does not mean giving that up. Ask the hotel to confirm the current access rules for your dates, especially if a particular pool is important to your family.

There is also a gentle Sea Breeze Yoga session by the Dusit Beach pool, currently listed for Monday to Friday, 9:30–10:00 a.m. Both hotels’ in-house guests are eligible, with mats and towels provided. It is the kind of small holiday ritual I would happily plan a slow morning around. Check the schedule at the concierge when you arrive.
Rooms: polished oceanfront or easy family comfort?
Dusit Thani: sleek, calm, and a little more special-occasion
Dusit Thani feels more contemporary and refined to me. Its Mountain View room is listed at 41 m², while the Deluxe Oceanfront is 43 m². If opening the curtains to a sweep of Tumon Bay is part of your Guam daydream, I would look closely at the oceanfront category rather than assuming every room has the same view.
I especially like this option for a couple’s trip, a celebration, or a holiday with parents when the room and hotel atmosphere are part of the experience. It can still work beautifully with children, particularly because the neighboring pools are available.

Dusit Beach: relaxed, practical, and easy to settle into
Dusit Beach has a warmer, more traditional beach-resort feel. Entry-level Superior and Deluxe Oceanview rooms are listed at 36 m², and the hotel offers room categories with a king bed or two queen beds. That second option can be far more useful than a few extra square metres when children are sharing the room.
I wouldn’t think of Dusit Beach as a lesser version of Dusit Thani. The mood is different. If the plan is beach, pool, a quick shower, then an easy dinner, its laid-back rhythm can be exactly what a family wants.

Going with kids? These details are worth checking
- Crib: Dusit Beach lists a complimentary baby crib subject to availability. Request one as soon as you book and reconfirm before travel. Ask Dusit Thani directly about your room’s arrangement too.
- Bed guard: Dusit Beach lists one per room for relevant room categories. Confirm the setup with the hotel if your child has outgrown a crib but could roll out of bed.
- Microwave: Dusit Beach currently lists one by request for USD 25 per stay. That is useful for warming children’s food, but it is not a standard free in-room amenity.
- Water and laundry: Dusit Beach lists a water station by the elevators on each floor and a coin laundry on its P floor. For longer family stays, those small conveniences can make a real difference.
Room amenities and fees can vary or change. The hotel’s current room details are the best place to check your exact category.
What about Pirate’s Bay Kids Club?
At Dusit Beach, Pirate’s Bay Kids Club offers supervised games, crafts, indoor and outdoor activities, and pool time for children aged 5–12. It is a nice option if your child is old enough for a half-day activity in an English-speaking environment. The hotel currently lists a half day at USD 45 and a full day at USD 85, with reservations at least 24 hours ahead. The morning session runs 9 a.m.–1 p.m. with lunch; the afternoon runs 1–5 p.m. with a snack. A full day runs 9 a.m.–5 p.m. with lunch and snacks.
Places, activities, and prices can change, so confirm before promising your child a pirate day. See the current Kids Club information or email piratesbaykidsclub@dusit.com.
Breakfast: Aqua or Palm Café?
Aqua at Dusit Thani is the one I would pick for a brighter, more polished breakfast with Tumon Bay as the backdrop. Palm Café at Dusit Beach feels more casual and easygoing for a family meal. Both offer buffet-style choices, but menus and child-pricing rules depend on the date and rate you book.
Before choosing a breakfast-inclusive room, compare the total for your family rather than just the room price. Dusit sometimes runs child-breakfast offers, but those can be tied to specific packages and ages. I would check the offer terms on the booking page instead of assuming a child eats free on every rate.
Where I’d eat around the two hotels
Tasi Grill is the beachfront choice when I want to come in from the pool, sit by the water, and stretch lunch into the afternoon. I’ve enjoyed the food there, and that slightly salty-hair, ocean-view meal is one of the little moments I remember from Guam. If you are going at a busy time, reserve ahead. Find Tasi Grill on Google Maps →
Beach House Grill at Dusit Beach has a relaxed beachfront setting that makes sunset dinner easy with kids. Find Beach House Grill →
When I’m ready for something with more spice, I head for Soi, Dusit Thani’s contemporary Thai restaurant. After several days of burgers and pasta, Thai food is exactly what I crave. Find Soi →
And for a simple morning outside the hotel, the nearby IHOP in Tumon is handy for pancakes, eggs, and an easy child-friendly breakfast. Find IHOP →
My verdict: which would I book?
I would book Dusit Thani when I want the hotel itself to feel like a treat: modern rooms, a more refined mood, and a carefully chosen oceanfront view. I would book Dusit Beach when the trip is about being comfortable as a family: two queen beds if needed, handy room requests, easy laundry and water, and a relaxed resort pace.
Both share the best part of the location. Both put the beach and a good choice of restaurants within easy reach. So I would enter my actual dates, compare equivalent room categories and cancellation rules, then decide whether the price difference is worth the atmosphere I want this time.
